LOCATION:  North of East Highland Ranch pool at 7136 Clubview, Highland

On Sunday, March 16, 2014, at approximately 3:54 p.m. deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to a report of a possible sighting of a small mountain lion or bobcat on the north side of the pool area at the East Highland’s Ranch property at 7136 Clubview.  The reporting party stated the animal ran north toward Highland Avenue and out of view.  Deputies immediately conducted a search of the area with the assistance of a helicopter from the Aviation Division.  However, they were unable to locate the animal or any tracks.

The Highland Police Department would like to warn area residents of an ncrease in the number of sightings of coyotes and bobcats in the area near Highland Avenue between Church and Weaver.  Residents should be on the alert to ensure they do not leave food or other items that might attract the wild animals.  Pets and small domestic animals should be secured at night.  Immediately call 9-1-1 if you see a wild animal.
