On Thursday, March 6, 2014, at about 4:18 p.m. a collision occurred on Ramona Avenue at State Route 71in Chino Hills. Party #1, a 73 year old female from Chino, CA, was driving northbound on Ramona Avenue with her passenger Party #2. Party #3, a 35 year old female from Chino Hills, CA, was driving southeast on the frontage road and about to enter the on-ramp to State Route 71 with her passenger Party #4.
The collision occurred in the controlled intersection and appears to have been caused by one of the involved parties failing to stop for a red traffic light. Both occupants of the Mazda MPV were transported to local hospitals for injuries sustained in the collision. Party #2 was taken to the Chino Valley Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. The occupants of the Jeep Laredo were treated at the scene but did not suffer significant injuries.
The investigation into this collision is ongoing and is being conducted by members of the Sheriff’s Region I Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information pertinent to the investigation is asked to contact investigators at the Chino Hills Sheriff’s Station.
