On March 24, 2014, the District Attorney’s Office filed 1 felony count of burglary and 2 felony counts of possession of stolen property against suspect Edgar Haines. An arraignment hearing was held on March 25, at which time Haines pled guilty to all counts and the judge increased the bail amount to $500,000. Haines remains in custody at West Valley Detention Center. The next scheduled court date in this matter is set for April 3 at San Bernardino County Superior Court.
On Thursday, March 20, 2014 at approximately 8:20 a.m., deputies of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station’s Multi Enforcement Taskforce conducted a pedestrian check at the intersection of Wabash Avenue and Laurel Lane in Sugarloaf on a subject identified as Edgar Haines. Haines is a parolee and subject to search as a condition of his parole. Haines was found to be in violation of his parole terms, having drug paraphernalia on his person.
Additionally, Haines matched the description of a suspect wanted in a burglary that had occurred on 03/18/14 at a home in the same neighborhood. After searching the location where he was staying, deputies determined Haines to be in possession of stolen property from the burglary.
Suspect Edgar Haines was taken into custody without incident and booked at the Big Bear Jail. Investigation into this matter is ongoing. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review and filing of a criminal complaint.
