Summary

On Monday, March 31, 2014 at approximately 12:27 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Station were dispatched to the report of a traffic collision wherein a vehicle had struck a Southern California Edison pole.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver was travelling East on Bear Valley Road at a high rate of speed and for unknown reasons left the roadway colliding with the telephone pole. The vehicle burst into flames, killing the driver. There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries. All lanes of traffic were shut down on Bear Valley Road from Kiowa Road to Multnomah. The road closures are expected to last for several hours to allow the SCE to replace the telephone pole that was damaged by the impact of the vehicle.
