On Saturday, March 29, 2014,
between the hours of 10 pm and Sunday, March 30th until 7 am, the Apple Valley Police Department
conducted a Juvenile Curfew Enforcement Operation. The purpose of these operations is to promote
public safety and increase the awareness of the dangers asssociated with
juveniles being out in the community after 10 pm.
The operation was funded
solely through grant funds from the 2014 CalGRIP (California Gang Reduction and
Intervention Program) grant. The operation focuses on the deterance of juvenile
loitering during late night and early morning hours, a violation of the Town of
Apple Valley Curfew Law, 11.24.010 AVMC.

This was a multi-agency operation
which included deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department and Apple Valley School Police Officers. During
the operation 2 juveniles were arrested for curfew violations, 10 vehicles were stopped, 2 vehicles were towed for
license violations, and 3 citations were
issued for other crimes. Juveniles as young as 14 years old were located, cited
and released to their parent or guardian at the Apple Valley Station. A total of 14
juveniles were contacted during the operation - one adult was arrested for
outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
