INCIDENT:              Operation Cross Country, Fight Against Human Trafficking Law Enforcement Action

LOCATION:            High Desert - Victorville and Hesperia

On June 20, 2014, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Division conducted a multitude of Human Trafficking investigations in the incorporated and unincorporated areas of Victorville and Hesperia.  The primary goal was to make contact and rescue persons possibly forced into prostitution by individuals and or organized crime groups.

The operation was considered a success, as several contacts were made with both victims and suspects in exploiting humans for illegal sexual crimes.  During the operation several persons were taken into custody for criminal activity or protective custody.   In addition, two juveniles were identified and rescued from Human Traffickers

The operation was conducted in conjunction with a larger three day, nationwide operation known as Operation Cross Country. The goal of the nationwide operation is to recover victims of human trafficking.  Since its creation in 2003, the Innocence Lost National Initiative has resulted in the identification and recovery of more than 2,700 children who have been sexually exploited. This year’s Operation Cross Country Operation was the seventh.
