On Sunday, July 19, 2014, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's Big Bear Station responded to a theft report. The victim had her wallet taken from her vehicle in Fawnskin. Within hours of the call the victims credit cards were used at several locations in the City of Big Bear Lake. The suspect also purchased a canoe using the stolen credit card. Deputies found that a new canoe was inspected at the West Boat ramp before being allowed onto the Lake. The suspect purchased a boat permit for the canoe. Video was obtained form the boat ramp and the suspect vehicle was identified. Deputies located the vehicle parked in front of a residence in Fawnskin and saw the canoe leaning against the residence. Contact was made with the suspect, 53-year-old Glenda Boland of Fawnskin, who fled into the residence when she saw the deputies. Deputies located the victims wallet, and items that were purchased with the credit cards. Deputies also located methamphetamine and additional identification belonging to another victim out of Twin Peaks who had her wallet taken. The suspect was found to have several AKA'S and warrants for fraud out of Orange County.
Deputies arrested Boland for possession of stolen property, fraudulent use of a credit card, possession of controlled substance, and false impersonation.
