On December 4, 2013 Chino Hills Deputies responded to Baby’s R Us to begin an investigation of theft by fraud. During the investigation, deputies determined a female suspect, later identified as Marsha Contreras, approached the Chino Hills Baby’s R Us guest services counter several times and fraudulently returned unpaid merchandise, thus receiving store credit into store gift cards.
During the investigation, deputies learned the suspect was responsible for similar thefts around Southern California. Chino Hills Deputies obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s Rowland Heights home resulting in the recovery of stolen property and evidence linking Contreras to other thefts.
Deputies arrested Contreras for investigation of commercial burglary. Contreras was booked at the West Valley Detention Center with bail set at $150,000. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Chino Hills Detective Division at (909)364-2000.
