Summary

On February 27, 2014 at 9:43 a.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Station responded to a reported theft in progress at the Yucca Valley Wal-Mart. Asset Protection Agents from the business observed two male suspects (Earnhart and Mariscola) stealing approximately $2000 worth of electronics from the business while a third suspect (Dunn) waited outside in a getaway vehicle. Deputies staged around the business and took Dunn and Earnhart into custody as Earnhart attempted to get into the suspect vehicle to flee. Investigation later showed that the suspects had altered the vehicle license plates with black tape to change the digits of the plate in an apparent effort to make the vehicle unidentifiable. Mascola was taken into custody later as he attempted to exit the store and flee on foot.

Deputies and Asset Protection Agents recovered all property and Wal-Mart sustained no loss. All suspects were booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with bail set at $25,000.
