INCIDENT:    Homicide Investigation/Attempt Murder


LOCATION:  20000 block of Serrano Road, Apple Valley                  


SUSPECT:    Robert Pope, age 20   


VICTIM(S):     Ernie Sanders, age 22 a resident of Apple Valley  

                      Adult Female – confidential


**UPDATE - February 12, 2014**

On February 12, 2014, The Sheriff’s Department Specialized Enforcement Division located Pope in the Los Angeles area.  Pope was subsequently arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center for PC 187, Murder and PC 664/187, Attempted Murder.  Pope is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail. 


**UPDATE – January 30, 2014**

Through investigation, Homicide investigators have identified the suspect believed to be involved in the death of Ernie Sanders and the attempt murder of an adult female as Robert Pope.  Pope is believed to frequent the high desert.  Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating him.

On Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at approximately 10:00 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to the report of a shooting in the 20000 block of Serrano Avenue in Apple Valley.   Upon arrival, deputies located two victims, a male and female, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Medical personnel responded to the location, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.    The female was transported to a local area hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.


Detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Homicide Detail responded to the location and are currently conducting the investigation.  The motive is under investigation, the suspect remains outstanding
