LOCATION:  Church Street and Greenspot, Highland

                        17 year old male

VICTIM(S):   Confidential

Summary

On Monday, August 11, 2014 at about 4:00

p.m., the female victim was driving in the area of Cram Elementary School.  The suspect, later identified as Chase Lee Hinshaw, was driving his Volkswagen Jetta extremely fast and reckless.  He cut her off several times and fled the area.  The victim did not know the suspects, and had never seen the vehicle before.  Witnesses in the area managed to get the license plate off Hinshaw's vehicle and reported it to police.  Deputies attempted to locate Hinshaw at the registered address, however neither he nor the vehicle were there.

A few hours later the victim and her husband were at Stater Brothers at Greenspot and Church.  They were approached by Hinshaw and a 17 year old juvenile in the parking lot.  The juvenile told the husband he had a gun and would kill him.  He did not show a gun, but did brandish a large blade knife.  The suspects fled northbound on Church.  The registered address and surrounding area was checked, but the supects and vehicle were not located.

On Tuesday, August 12th, detectives found numerous recent calls for service that involved Hinshaw and his vehicle.  The calls included reckless driving, driving in excess of 100 miles per hour, and trespassing with minors consuming alcohol in the orange groves. On several of the occassions, Hinshaw was cited.  A search warrant was obtained for the registered residence and served.  Hinshaw and the 17 year old juvenile were located and arrested.  The weapon used in the assault, as well as several other illegal and replica weapons were seized, along with controlled substances.  Detectives are asking anyone that may have witnessed this vehicle in a crime to please contact the Highland Police Department.
