On Thursday, July 31, 2014, Salgado
stole Victim #1’s vehicle from the Jiffy Lube parking lot located off Peyton Drive in
Chino Hills. Victim #2 drove his vehicle in an attempt to follow Salgado,
but Salgado intentionally rammed the stolen vehicle against victim’s vehicle,
thus causing the victim to discontinue following the suspect.
A short time later, deputies located
the victim’s vehicle abandoned in front of a food establishment near the Chino
Spectrum. Deputies, with the assistance of Chino Police Department and
Sheriff’s Aviation Division, conducted a massive search for Salagado, but
Salgado was not immediately located. On the same day, at approximately 9:00
p.m., deputies responded to the area of Eucalyptus Avenue / Pipeline Avenue to investigate a report
of a suspicious man matching the description of Salgado. Deputies searched the
area and located Salgado walking on Eucalyptus
Avenue. Salgado fled from deputies on foot and after
a brief search, Salgado was located hiding in a nearby parking lot.
After the arrest, deputies learned Salgado is on probation
for auto theft and recently released from State Prison under the Assembly Bill
109-(Prisoner Realignment.) Deputies booked Salgado at the West Valley
for investigation of Grand Theft Auto and Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Salgado
remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail.
