INCIDENT:    PC 290 – East Valley Sex Offender Compliance Checks

 

LOCATION:  City of Highland, City of Redlands, City of Loma Linda, City of Grand Terrace, City of Yucaipa, Un-incorporated areas of Mentone, Colton, San Bernardino, Muscoy

 



Summary

The Highland Sheriff’s Station hosted a Sex Offender Compliance Operation involving the entire Inland East Valley area of San Bernardino County. Deputies from various Stations of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Officers from Redlands Police, along with State Parole Officers, and San Bernardino County Probation Officers conducted compliance checks of 535 registered Sex Offenders who reside within the City of Loma Linda, City of Grand Terrace, City of Highland, City of Yucaipa, City of Redlands, and the un-incorporated county areas of Muscoy, San Bernardino, Mentone and Colton.

 

These compliance checks included verifying the home address of each registered sex offenders, and conducting parole & probation searches of those Sex Offenders who are on active Felony Probation or Parole. The operation involved over 75 officers who conducted 31 probation searches, 91 Parole searches, and 436 compliance checks of registered Sex Offenders.

 

As a result of these compliance checks, it was found that 44 registrants were out of compliance and had moved from their last registered address.  A criminal investigation is being conducted into their current whereabouts. 308 subjects were contacted and found to be in compliance with their Sex Offender Registrations, and 206 subjects were not at home at the time of the contact.

 

The operation resulted in a total of 19 arrests. (2) Subjects were arrested for violating their terms of Parole.  (1) Subject was arrested for violating the terms of his probation. (2) Subjects were arrested for being in possession of narcotics. (1) Subject was arrested for being a Felon in possession of a gun, and (1) subject was arrested for a possessing a stolen vehicle. (1) Subject was arrested for moving and failing to register his new home address as required by PC 290. (11) Subjects were arrested for various misdemeanor and Felony Warrants. All 19 suspects were booked into the County Jail.

 

As a result of the operation, Officers recovered (1) stolen vehicle, and located (1) handgun.

 

The Sheriff's Department will continue to monitor and conduct random compliance checks of each of these registered sex offenders.
