On Thursday, March 27, 2014, deputies from the Chino Hills Police Department Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) in cooperation with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) conducted shoulder tap and minor decoy enforcement operations.  The operation resulted in 3 violations for various offenses.

During the operation, closely supervised minors approached 11 adult patrons outside of an ABC licensed establishments in the City of Chino Hills, as well as 9 employees of various locations, and asked them to purchase alcohol on their behalf.  As part of the conversation, the minor indicated that they were underage and could not legally purchase alcohol.  If the adult then agreed to purchase alcohol for the minor, the offender was arrested for furnishing alcohol to a minor; this offense can carry a minimum of $1,000 fine and 24-hours of community service.  The operation resulted in three violations; two for patrons buying alcohol for the minors and one violation was issued to an employee for selling alcohol to a minor.

These types of operations work to reduce the access to and consumption of alcohol to minors by deterring adults from supplying under-age drinkers.
