On Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Sheriff’s Narcotics Division Marijuana Enforcement Team and deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant at 424 Mallow Road in Landers. No residents were found to be in the home when investigators arrived. The residence had minimal furnishings and was being utilized solely for cultivation. An unknown number of suspects were sleeping in 2 tents inside the residents.
Investigators discovered a large marijuana cultivation throughout the property. The plants were surrounded by chain link fencing with sun shade fabric attached in attempts to conceal the grow. A total of 322 mature and budding plants, ranging from 2 to 4 feet tall were seized. The investigation revealed this was an illegal marijuana operation, which was not in compliance with California medical marijuana laws. Officers from San Bernardino County Code Enforcement assisted with the violation of the county ordinance
The investigation is ongoing.
