On Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at approximately 7:00 a.m., the Sheriff’s Narcotics Division Marijuana Enforcement Team and deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant at 1254 Goat Mountain Road in Landers. The residents, Phou Keomachaxay and Vanphachay Chanthaachon , were in the home when investigators arrived. The residence had minimal furnishings and was being utilized solely for cultivation.
Investigators discovered a large marijuana cultivation in the rear yard of the residence – the property is approximately 2.0 acres. The plants were surrounded by fencing with landscape fabric attached in attempts to conceal the grow. A total of 421marijuana plants in various stages and sizes were seized. Most of the plants were mature and budding. Three pounds of processed marijuana was also located. The investigation revealed this was an illegal marijuana operation, which was not in compliance with California medical marijuana laws. Officers from San Bernardino County Code Enforcement assisted with the violation of the county ordinance
Investigators arrested Keomahaxay and Chanthaachone for cultivation. The investigation will be submitted to the District Attorney for review.
