On Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at 0001 hours, Highland Deputies stopped a vehicle for expired registration (VC 4000a). As deputies approached the vehicle the passenger (MAYFIELD) threw a meth pipe on the ground. MAYFIELD was found to be a career criminal and on active felony probation. During a search of the vehicle deputies located a loaded pistol and a large quantity of methamphetamine (packaged for sales). The driver (PESCH) was also found to be in possession of ecstasy and an additional baggie of methamphetamine.
Deputies identified the vehicle as matching the description of a vehicle Colton Police Officers were looking for in connection to a home invasion robbery that occurred on September 17th. Colton Police Officers responded to the scene and confirmed MATTHEW PESCH was the suspect and positively identified by the victim during the robbery.
PESCH and MAYFIELD were booked at the Central Detention Center on multiple charges.
