Highland - Gang Member Arrested

DATE:     September 14, 2013

LOCATION: Keller Peak/HWY18, Twin Peaks

SUSPECT:     Garth Pezant, age 32 a resident of Highland



Summary

On Saturday September 14, 2013,  at approximately 7:43 p.m., Highland Sheriff's Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gray Chevy Impala with no licence plates at Sterling Avenue and Walker Street. Prior to the vehicle stopping, the suspect, Garth Pezant, jumped out of the passenger side door and ran southbound from the location. A black female adult and black male juvenile were detained at the vehicle.

 

After an extensive search with the assistance of the Central Station Deputies and Sheriff's Aviation 40K5, Pezant was found in the apartment complex at 7405 Sterling Avenue. When deputies attempted to take Pezant into custudy, he ran and had to be physically restained.

 

Pezant is currently on parole, is a convicted felon and a documented gang member.  He was found to be in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine and live ammunition. The vehicle Pezant ran from was searched and a military grade bullet proof vest with a ceramic trauma plate was found.  Pezant was booked into West Valley Detention Center.
