On Sunday, December 1, 2013, at 12:28 a.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Desert Dispatch Center received a 911 call from Teasers Nightclub, located at 14269 Seventh Street, in the city of Victorville. The caller reported that an employee's life was threatened when he refused to allow entry to a small group of underage and intoxicated patrons. The suspect, later identified as Tyrell Smith, told the victim he would come back and shoot him and shoot at his residence. Smith said he knew where the victim lived and provided the street and city the victim lived in. When Victorville Deputies arrived, they learned the group had left the business in two separate vehicles. The vehicle descriptions were broadcasted to responding deputies, who located the vehicles leaving the area.
Deputies followed the vehicles down a dead end street in the 13900 block of Smoke Tree Road, in a residential area and conducted a traffic stop on Smith's vehicle. An officer involved shooting occurred however, none of the occupants of the vehicle or any deputies were injured. Smith was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center for PC422 Criminal threats.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detail were requested and are currently conducting the investigation.
