Incident:        Attempted Murder/Assault with Injury to a Child

Location:       5900 Block of Elmwood, San Bernardino

Suspect(s):    Oscar Chavez, age 19 a resident of San Bernardino

Victim(s):       Confidential


On November 15, 2013,  deputies from the Sheriff's Central Station were dispatched to a residence in the county area of San Bernardino for an assault report.  During the investigation the victim identified Oscar Chavez as the person who assaulted and threatened to kill her.   During the incident, Chavez attacked the child victim with an aluminum baseball bat.  The victim was struck on the head / body and suffered serious injury.  Chavez threatened to kill the victim during the attack.  Deputies determined that Chavez acted with premeditation and followed the victim in an effort to assault and kill her.


Deputies conducted further investigation and located Chavez  inside his residence. The weapon was also located and identified.  Chavez was arrested and admitted to the crime.   Chavez was booked into the Central Detention Center and currently has $2,000,000.00 bail.
