On Tuesday, November 26th at approximately 1:14 a.m., deputeis from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the 11000 block of Shaw Avenue, following the report of a vehicle burglary in progress. The victim reported their vehicle had just been broken into and provided Sheriff's dispatch with a description of the suspect and vehicle.
Deputies arrived in the area and started an area check for the suspect vehicle along with air support from Sheriff 's Aviation. Within minutes of their arrival, a second victim called and provided additional information regarding the suspect’s vehicle description. While patrolling the area, Sheriff's Aviation spotted the suspect’s vehicle attempting to break the perimeter in which law enforcement had established. The airship soon reported the three suspects had fled on foot and provided direction to their hiding locations. Two suspects were quickly apprehended and the third suspect remained outstanding.
Deputy Ryan Girard and his K9 Dare were requested and responded to the scene. Within seconds of her deployment, the third suspect was located by Dare hiding betweens homes in the area of Westmont Ave just north of Kenyon Way.
A search of the suspect’s van revealed about $8,000.00 in stolen property from various victim(s) in the City of Rancho Cucamonga, as well as residences of the City of Ontario. AMajority of the victims were called to the scene and their property was returned. Also recovered from the vehicle was about an ounce of methamphetamine.
