On Monday, November 4, 2013, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Morongo Basin Station, conducted Sex Offender Compliance check. Compliance checks are conducted by Sheriff deputies on a weekly basis to ensure subjects required to register as sex offenders are adhering to the requirements set forth by the State of California.
During the operation, 30 local registered sex offenders were checked, and a majority of the subjects were found to be in compliance and living at their registered addresses. Three subjects have moved out of the area or state. Those cases will be forwarded to the local agency tasked with ensuring the subjects properly register with them.
Thomas White / 38 YOA / resident of Morongo Valley was found to be out of compliance having failed to register his place of residence with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Morongo Basin Station. White was arrested for failing to register and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail on a felony charge of failing to register as a sex offender. White's case will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for review.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is committed to continue similar compliance checks in the future.
