On December 21, 2013, at approximately 7:04 p.m., Yucaipa Deputies responded to the report of an injury traffic collision at the intersection of Oak Glen Rd. and Stonewood Dr. Upon arrival, deputies located Keddy lying upon Oak Glen Rd. near where the motorcycle he had been riding had come to rest. Personnel from Cal-Fire and AMR had also responded to the scene and had initiated life saving efforts upon Keddy prior to being transported to the hospital. Bacon and the involved Honda she had been driving were also located at the scene. Although preliminary, the investigation shows that Keddy had been riding his motorcycle at an unknown speed, eastbound Oak Glen Rd., approaching the intersection at Stonewood Dr. Bacon had been driving her vehicle northbound on Stonewood Dr. and had just entered the intersection to eastbound Oak Glen Rd. For an unknown reason, the front of Keddy’s motorcycle collided into the rear of Bacon’s vehicle just east of the intersection. The collision caused Keddy to be ejected from his motorcycle where he struck the rear portion of Bacon’s vehicle and then fell to the roadway. As a result of the collision, Keddy had sustained trauma to his head and upper torso. He was treated at the scene by emergency personnel and then transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. No other persons were injured as a result of the collision. The exact cause of this collision remains undetermined at this time and it is unclear whether the consumption of alcohol may be a factor.
The investigation into this collision is still ongoing and is being conducted by members of the Sheriff’s Region I MAIT Team. Anyone who may have witnessed this collision or has information related to this investigation is asked to contact investigators at the Yucaipa Station. Persons providing information can remain anonymous if they choose.
