On December 4, 2013 at 1620 hours, Deputy Leon from the Highland Station was traveling south on Del Rosa Avenue when he located a stolen vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. When Deputy Leon made a u-turn, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. Near the 6600 block of Pradera Avenue, Ernesto Hernandez jumped out of the stolen vehicle and ran while the vehicle was still moving. The now unoccupied stolen vehicle rolled into a front yard and struck a tree. With help from Sheriff’s Aviation and surrounding patrol units, Hernandez was captured near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Sterling Avenue.
Ernesto Hernandez was found to be on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) probation.
Hernandez was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. Hernandez was also found to have three additional warrants for his arrest, including a no-bail warrant for violating the terms of his Post Release Supervision.
Hernandez was booked into Central Detention Center for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and the active warrants.
