INCIDENT:     Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision  - SUSPECT ARRESTED

 

LOCATION:    Sterling Avenue north of Baseline Street, Highland

 

VICTIM:           William Alvarez, age 53 a resident of Highland   

 

SUSPECT:      Tommy Alan Kormillo, age 35 a resident of Highland

                      

 

SUSPECT VEHICLE:  2002 Blue Chevrolet Blazer – 2 door

                                     License Plate:  California 6UTD023



Summary

UPDATE

On Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at approximately 2:00 p.m., suspect, Tommy Alan Kormillo, turned himself in to deputies at the Highland Police Department.  Mr. Kormillo was subsequently arrested, transported and booked into the Central Detention Center for VC20001 – Felony Hit and Run.

On Sunday, December 1, 2013, at approximately 5:22 p.m., deputies from the HIghland Police Department responded to the report  of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian that had occurred on Sterling Avenue just north of Baseline in the city of Highland.   Upon arrival, deputies were advised that an unknown blue Chevy Blazer was traveling south on Sterling Avenue when the vehicle struck the victim that was walking west across the street, between the intersections of Walker Street and Baseline St.  The vehicle struck the victim in the #2 southbound lane of Sterling Avenue.  Fire personnel responded to the location and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver fled the scene leaving behind the hood of the vehicle as well as other debris.

 

The Region 1 Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the location to conduct the investigation.

Deputies have determined that the vehicle involved in the collision is a 2002 Blue Chevrolet Blazer, 2 door – license plate California 6UTD023.  The registered owner of the vehicle is Tommy Alan Kormillo, deputies believe that Kormillo was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
