Summary

SUMMARY:

On Friday, December 20, 2013 at approximately 4:54 a.m., Deputies of the Apple Valley Police Station were dispatched to a report of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian.  The pedestrian died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

Involved party #2 was driving southbound on Pawnee Rd. between Arapahoe Ave and Biloxi Ave., when his vehicle struck involved party #1. The pedestrian was in the roadway, but it is unclear if the pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway or walking along the side.  There is no sidewalk in the area and the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing.  Deputies will not know if speed was a factor until the investigation is completed, but does not appear to be a factor at this time.

As the Apple Valley Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) was otherwise assigned at the time of this investigation, Hesperia MAIT is handling this fatal collision investigation. This is an ongoing investigation by the Hesperia Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Deputy Kevin McCurdy or Brendan Motley at 760-947-1500.
