  1. Coroner case
    On 10/16/2017 at 8:39 pm the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department responded to an auto versus pedestrian collision on Yucaipa Blvd and Third Street, in Yucaipa. Samuel Ortiz, a 60 year old transient from Yucaipa, was crossing Yucaipa Blvd, east of Third St, when he was struck by a vehicle. Ortiz was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he died of his injuries. He was pronounced dead at 9:59 pm. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department MAIT Division is investigating the collision.

    On 10/14/17, at 11:49 AM, a collision was reported between a motorcycle and an automobile at the intersection of Arrow Route and Almond Ave., in Fontana. The motorcyclist, Milad Amin Khalil, a 41 year old resident of Fontana, was transported in cardiac arrest to Kaiser Foundation Hospital, Fontana (KFHF), in the emergency room, where he was pronounced dead at 12:21 PM. The collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. [101417 2145 TC]

    On 10/13/17, at 12:27 PM, a collision between an automobile and a motorcycle was reported along State Route 38, in the area of Jenks Lake (Angelus Oaks). The motorcyclist, Murray Francis Newton, a 50 year old resident of Mountain House (San Joaquin County), California, was traveling with a group of riders eastbound along SR38, when he lost control of his Harley-Davidson on a curve, causing him to slide into the on-coming traffic lane, where Newton collided with a westbound automobile. Emergency medical providers from Big Bear Fire Department arrived on scene and Newton was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:18 PM. The collision is under investigation by California Highway Patrol – San Bernardino. [101417 0637 TC]

    On 10/08/17, at 6:50 pm, Misti Lucas, a 44-year-old female transient resident of Chino, was a pedestrian who was struck by an auto. The collision occurred in the intersection of Central Ave and Francis St in Chino and was pronounced dead on-scene. The Chino Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the collision. [101217 2345 TC]

    On 10/09/17, at 2:07 am, Richard Vester, a 21-year-old male resident of Redlands, was involved in a solo vehicle traffic collision. The collision occurred on Wabash Ave and Fifth Ave in Redlands. Redlands Police Officers arrived on-scene and confirmed Vester deceased. The Redlands Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the collision. [101217 2345 TC]

    On October 13, 2017, at 1:31 AM, Barstow Police Department, and Barstow Fire Department, personnel were sent to the 2500 block of West Main Street, Barstow, in response to a bicyclist being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, they found a 73-year-old Hispanic male was stuck by an oncoming vehicle. The male was declared dead on scene at 1:39 AM, by Barstow Fire Department personnel. The name of the decedent is being withheld pending family notification. The Barstow Police Department is investigating the incident. [10132017 0900 JK]

    On 10/12/17, at 6:01 AM, deputies with the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department and also the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department responded to Fourth Street, between Santa Anita Avenue and Etiwanda Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga reference a pedestrian who was struck by a westbound semi-truck. 36-year-old Upland resident Jeriel Herring was pronounced dead on scene at 6:11 AM. The Rancho Cucamonga Police Traffic Division is investigating the incident. [101217 2355 TC]

    On Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 9:39PM, deputies with the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department and paramedics responded to a solo vehicle rollover traffic collision on Oak Glen Road south of E Avenue in Yucaipa. Once on scene, they found Manuel Ray Garcia, age: 38, a resident of Highland, had sustained injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team in investigating the incident. [10112017 1020 PM] EM 


  10. Coroner case # 701706964
    On Monday, October 09, 2017, at 10:42 PM, officers of the California Highway Patrol were sent to the area of State Route 138 near Oasis Road, in the unincorporated area of Pinon Hills, to investigate the report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, they found Melvin Boyd Chivas, a 51-year-old resident of Pinon Hills, was walking in the eastbound lane of State Route 138, when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Chivas was declared dead at 10:57 PM, by San Bernardino County Fire Department personnel. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

    Back on Thursday, 10/05/2017 at 5:33 PM, Vera Simental, a 5 year-old resident of Hesperia, was a passenger in a vehicle and was struck broadside at the  intersection of Escondido Rd. and Hollister St. in Victorville by a second vehicle. Simental was initially transported to Desert Valley Hospital and later airlifted to the Loma Linda University Medical Center. On Saturday 10/07/17, Simental succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 9:15 PM. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting the investigation into the collision. [10092017 1600 SC]

    On Monday, October 09, 2017, at 1:28 AM, officers with the San Bernardino Police Department and paramedics with American Medical Response responded to a "shots fired" call at 685 North Mt. Vernon Avenue in San Bernardino. Paramedics located 25 years old Francisco Manuel Ramirez of San Bernardino with traumatic injuries.  He was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center. At 3:48 AM, Francisco was pronounced deceased in the emergency department. The San Bernardino Police Department is investigating the incident. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. [10092017 1555 SC]
