The Sheriffs Narcotics Division is one of the region's largest and most active narcotics enforcement units. The division is comprised of specially-trained, and highly dedicated, sworn and general personnel who cover a wide range of specific areas of enforcement. These personnel are arranged into several teams and task forces to provide a maximum level of narcotics enforcement for the citizens of San Bernardino County. Additionally, the division has teams or task force representatives in auto theft, parcel interdiction, D.E.A., H.I.D.T.A. and marijuana eradication. Together, these groups are leading the charge to ensure a safe community for our County's citizens.

The Narcotics Division has organized majority of its resources into investigative teams. These Regional Teams operate in assigned geographical areas throughout the County, including the high to low deserts, the Inland Empire valley, and the mountains. The teams are tasked with combating the intense narcotic problem facing law enforcement today. In addition to these regional teams, the division has two mid-major level investigative teams or known as the: RMTF and CALMET teams. The division also has major narcotic enforcement team called IRNET.

The Sheriffs' Narcotics Division is preparing to meet the challenges and opportunities facing law enforcement in the 21st Century. The division's commitment, dedication and innovativeness will ensure that it meets its obligations to the communities it serves and will strive daily to make our community a better place to live by means of effective narcotic enforcement.

The following is a brief description of each team's duties and responsibilities:



REGION I Street Enforcement Team
The region one team is comprised of San Bernardino Sheriffs personnel. The team is responsible for street level narcotics enforcement in the County areas and cities on the West End of the County. These cities include: Chino Hills, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, and Ontario. Investigations routinely conducted are for possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics for sale. The team also engages in surveillance, undercover work, search warrant services, arrest warrant services, and assists stations and contract cities with crime sweeps and complaint-generated narcotics and vice problems.


REGION II Street Enforcement Team
This region II team consists of investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department. The team operates in the High Desert area of San Bernardino County, which includes the cities of Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley, Adelanto, Barstow, and the surrounding unincorporated areas from Pinon Hills, Phelan, Hinkley, and Newberry Springs to the California/Nevada state border, including Yucca Valley, Twenty-nine Palms, Morongo Valley, Lucerne Valley, Big Bear and the Colorado River area. The team's main focus is street level narcotics offenders and those who manufacture illegal drugs. In addition, the team provides manpower assistance when requested for criminal sweeps and other investigations.


East Valley Street Enforcement Team
The East Valley Street Enforcement Team is a joint effort between the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department and the Redlands Police Department to combat street level drug dealers, and users. The target cities of the team are: Redlands, Loma Linda, Yucaipa, Highland, Grand Terrace, Mentone, Muscoy, Lake Arrowhead and Twin Peaks the team's focus is to impact the neighborhoods that are affected by individuals who sell and use drugs.


RMTF and CALMET Teams

Currently, there are two teams focusing on mid-level to major narcotic organizations that conduct clandestine manufacturing operations throughout San Bernardino County. The CALMET Team is utilized because of their broad experience and training in combating methamphetamine manufacturers. Both teams are sought after by other Counties, State and Federal narcotic law enforcement agencies to assist them complex operations within their jurisdictions. Their secondary mission is to combat criminal organizations that manufacture illegal drugs. RMTF Team is co-located with Riverside County's Methamphetamine Interdiction Team. Both Riverside and San Bernardino's RMTF teams have formed a regional methamphetamine task force to combat the meth problem within the greater inland empire area. This joint networking effort between San Bernardino and Riverside Counties has been working successfully since 1996. Both the CALMET and RMTF Teams also operate as a mid level undercover investigative unit with its primary task of locating and dismantling criminal organizations that manufacture, traffic and sale illegal drugs.

CAlMET- D.H.E. primary mission is to investigate mid-level to large scale organizations that are using the local interstates, highways and streets to traffic drugs.


Inland Regional Narcotic Enforcement Team
I.R.N.E.T. is a major narcotic investigation team which is comprised of various San Bernardino County law enforcement officers and is spear headed by the Sheriff's department. This team is also composed of several Federal and State investigators. By its diversity alone, I.R.N.E.T. has numerous resources that make it a premier investigative unit within the Southern California area.


Marijuana Eradication Team
The Marijuana Eradication Team (MET) investigates indoor and outdoor marijuana cultivations throughout San Bernardino County. The team works closely with various local, state, and federal agencies, including the US Forest Service, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and Riverside County Sheriffs Department. This joint agency response has proven extremely effective in locating and eradicating numerous large outdoor cultivations that are typically found in remote areas of the San Bernardino National Forest.


DEA Task Force
The Riverside DEA Task Force groups conduct long-term complex investigations targeting major narcotics trafficking organizations in the Inland Empire. The task force group members consist of investigators from the Drug Enforcement Agency, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and other local police agencies.


Southern California Drug Task Force --- HIDTA Group 50
It is the primary objective of the Southern California Drug Task Force to conduct long-term, complex investigations targeting major narcotic trafficking organizations that operate on a national and international level. The HIDTA Group 50 Task Force concentrates its efforts on organizations located within the Inland Empire. The HIDTA Group 50 Task Force is comprised of investigators from the Drug Enforcement Agency, US Customs, San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department, Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, Riverside County Sheriffs Department, Riverside Police Department, and the Ontario Police Department.


SANCAT Task Force
The San Bernardino County Auto Theft Task Force (SANCAT) devotes its attention and efforts to combating organized vehicle theft, auto theft rings, and chop shops that dispose of vehicle parts. The Task Force also routinely conducts inspections of vehicle related businesses for any type of auto theft violations. The Task Force is a countywide multi-jurisdictional task force involving city police agencies, San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department, San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office, California Highway Patrol, Department of Motor Vehicles, and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.


Parcel Interdiction Team
The Parcel Interdiction Team is dedicated to combating the problem of drug trafficking as it pertains to the private parcel businesses located within the County. The parcel team routinely conducts inspections at a variety of commercialized shipping companies throughout the County. The team is made up of members of the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department.
