Fishing

Fishing on the banks of the lake at Glen HelenThe San Bernardino County Regional Parks Department has multiple fishing options throughout the County.  From Junior Fishing Workshops to Trout Derbies, Regional Parks can meet the needs of the beginner to advanced angler.

Fishing is available at the following Parks:

Cucamonga-Guasti, Glen Helen, Mojave Narrows, Prado, and Yuciapa Regional Parks are stocked by San Bernardino County and the Department of Fish and Game. 

A state fishing license is required to fish at the Regional Parks. State licenses may be purchased online at the California Department of Fish and Game or sporting goods stores such as Bass Pro Shops and Big 5.

Trout

Trout Season runs from November through mid April

Fees

  • Park entry: Weekdays $8.00 per vehicle; Weekends and Holidays $10.00 per vehicle; $2.00 pedestrian fee
  • Fishing permit: $8.00 per person.
  • Fishing permits must be purchased at the entry gate each day and be in the angler's possession while fishing. Permit is valid only at the park where it is purchased. Turn in the permit at the gate when leaving the park for the day.

Fishing Hours:
  • Summer
    • 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday
    • 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday
  • Winter
    • 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m./dusk Monday through Sunday

    Lakes closed on day of stocking (Thursday)  for:

    • Glen Helen 
    • Mojave Narrows
    • Prado
    • Yucaipa (Stocked lakes closed only, all others are open)

 Lakes closed on day of stocking every other Wednesday and every other Thursday  for:

    • Glen Helen 
    • Cucamonga-Guasti

Trout Derbies
Trout Derbies are held between the end of November to the middle of April.   The derbies are hosted
once a month by one of the parks below.   Derby entry fee $20.00 per person plus vehicle entry.

     December 1, 2012 - Cucamonga-Guasti, Ontario
     April 13, 2013 - Glen Helen, Devore
     February 9, 2013 -  Prado, Chino
     January 5, 2013 - Yucaipa, Yucaipa
     March 16, 2013 - Mojave Narrows, Victorville

  

Catfish

Catfish caught Catfish season begins at the end of May and runs through the first Saturday in September.  Lakes stocked with catfish may be found at the following parks:

     Cucamonga-Guasti, Ontario
     Glen Helen, Devore
     Prado, Chino
     Yucaipa, Yucaipa
     Mojave Narrows, Victorville

The stockings will take place on Thursdays.
      

    Junior Fishing Workshops

    The Regional Parks Department provides Junior Fishing Workshops throughout the County to give children ages 7 to 13 the skills to fish.  Please visit the Junior Fishing Workshop page for more information about the program.
