Annual Events:

National Bike Month (May)

Established in 1956 by the League of American Bicyclists, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling and to encourage more people to give it a try.  Each year, the County has a "Bike to Work Challenge" for employees.  Those who complete the challenge will have a chance to win one of several prize drawings, including a brand new commuter bike.

Dump the Pump Day (June)

Every June the public transportation systems across the country celebrate National Dump the Pump Day and encourage people to ride public transportation instead of driving.  Use conveniently located bus routes and enjoy air-conditioned comfort (and in some cases free Wi-Fi) while taking a relaxing ride to work instead of fighting traffic.  Employees who pledge to use public transit on Dump the Pump Day will be entered into a prize raffle.

Rideshare Week (October)

National Rideshare Week is held to promote carpooling, transit and other alternatives to driving alone.  Each year County employees are asked to join in working towards meeting the Air Quality Management District (AQMD) clean air requirements by making the pledge to rideshare during Rideshare Week.  Participants who pledge are entered into a drawing for a chance to earn one of many great prizes.

Rideshare Member Luncheon (November)

The Rideshare Member Luncheon is held in November each year to recognize employees that participated in the rideshare program an average of 8 days a month for six consecutive months (March - August).  Each luncheon features a fun theme, fabulous food, presentation, and raffle prizes.
