Environmental Management

This Division was established to address the Department’s needs relating to stormwater quality and environmental compliance for County Transportation, Flood Control, and Solid Waste Management capital improvement and maintenance projects, under applicable federal and state laws.



Environmental Planning & Maintenance

The Environmental Planning and Maintenance sections handle the environmental review and permitting process for these projects; coordinate Department and San Bernardino County Flood Control District (District) review and comment on environmental documents circulated by other agencies, when those projects have the potential to impact property owned or maintained by the Department or the District; and administer mitigation measures adopted as part of a project.

NPDES/Stormwater

The NPDES section administers the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program for the County and the District, and collaborates with other local and regional agencies to reduce stormwater pollution throughout the Santa Ana and Mojave River watersheds.
